This auspicious time honors the annual harvest in conjunction with lunar cycles. So as the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, it is always fun to teach our students about the celebration’s most revered snack – the Mooncake. Being the signature dish of the Mid-Autumn Festival, it commemorates the full moon and the fall harvest.

Made from a sweet, dense pastry, mooncakes are usually filled with a delicious red bean, sesame or lotus seed paste, and it also has unique patterns symbolizing good-luck sentiments like ‘longevity’ or ‘harmony’. Our students had a lot of fun visiting our amazing school Bakery and they got to each make special mooncakes in commemoration to this very special day. By folding and filling their very own pastries, they created a beautiful and unique snack they could share with their families. From our Wagor Lai Cuo family to yours, wishing a very happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

當我們談到中秋節，你會想到什麼呢？孩子們想到的第一個就是”嫦娥奔月”的故事。這麼多的傳說為何這個故事讓孩子們這麼喜歡呢？因為裡面的主角有美麗的嫦娥和可愛的玉兔啊！小班、中班的我們仍深信月亮裡面會有玉兔在搗藥，大班的我們嘗試發想有什麼方法可以到月球上去一探究竟呢？最後我們決定蓋一條彩虹階梯，讓大家一起上月球去！

在學校一系列中秋的體驗活動，讓孩子們印象最深刻的是自製手工月餅囉！一進到烘焙教室，馬上聞到上一班烤月餅飄出來的香味，孩子們已經迫不及待的想吃啦！引導孩子觀察餅皮的外觀、聞一聞餡料的香味，好香喔！孩子真的忍不住偷吃了一小口^^，我們一起拍一拍麵團、壓一壓餅皮，然後將餡料包起來變成一顆球送進烤箱，待月餅出爐後讓孩子們帶回與家人們一同分享，也和孩子們解說著中秋節是寓意著~生活美滿、家人團圓的節日。在此葳格賴厝校全體祝大家中秋佳節愉快！
